GALLIE - Alice Elizabeth
Gallie was born in ihe Manfred
District on Dec. 7, 1911 to
Frank and Julia Kerik, the second
of seven children, two having
died in infancy. She went to
be with the Lord on Feb. 27,
2001 at the age of 89 years.
Alice attended the Schultz
School through Grade 8 and
then finished her schooling in
Bashaw, AB. Before her marriage
she worked at St. Mary's
Hospital in Camrose, AB and
then went to work in Vernon,
BC. On Nov. 25. 1936 she
married her childhood friend,
Louie Gallie and they lived in
the Manfred District. They

one mile east of Bashaw in
1942. In 1946 they moved to a
farm on the north shore of
Buffalo Lake near Pelican
Point and farmed there until

the town of Bashaw. Louie
died very shortly after and
Alice went to work in the
Bashaw Hospital for many
years. After retiring, she
enjoyed her vegetable and
flower gardens. All who knew
her will remember her huge
" strawberry patch." Alice traveled
to many places including
most of Europe, Hawaii, The
Holy Land, Australia, New
Zealand, all across Canada,
the USA and Mexico. One of
her favorite places was Las
Vegas, but her most impressive

was able to wash her hands in
the Arctic Ocean. Alice was the
last original charter member of
the CWL which was founded in

of the W. I. and spent many
hours doing volunteer work at
the Tourist Information Centre
and Thrift Shop. Alice was still
volunteering up until six weeks
before her passing folding
laundry at the nursing station
in the hospital. She so missed
the " Old Farm" but was fortunate
to have her daughter
Jennifer and John take her
there many times to visit and
reflect. After her retirement she
also spent a lot of time at
Mike's small farm in
Spruceview. She also enjoyed
fishing and spent time at
Mackenzie. BC with her sister
Mattie and brother Nick at the
home of her niece Donna.
( Great Fishing spot!") Alice
moved to the Bashaw Valley
Lodge on April 1. 1994. She
then went to the St. Mary's
Hospital in November, 2000
where she stayed until her
passing. Her life was full and
everyone who knew her were
blessed. Alice will be lovingly
