Elizabeth Katherine Heslop
The ladies of the Mix Women's Institute said their final good- byes as they acted as
honorary pallbearers for their friend Liz Heslop. Liz passed away June 22, 1999 at Red
Deer, Alberta.
Liz was a member of the Alix WI for 29 years and she will be sadly missed. She
contributed greatly to the organization through active participation and the donation of
exquisite handicrafts.
Elizabeth was bom on the family farm north of Castor on September 17, 1926. On April
10,1945 Elizabeth was united in marriage to Frank Heslop, and from this union twelve
children were bom.
She was predeceased by two daughters, Lucy Elizabeth Heslop and Lorraine Marilyn
Zimmer; two grandsons, Travis Klug and Edward Zimmer as well as her parents Mike
and Katie Schaffner; and one sister Eva Gale.
Elizabeth is survived by her children Marlene ( Keith) Dawson of Rimbey, Ina ( Clinton)
Straub of Medicine Hat, Linda ( Alister) Allan of Alix, Brenda ( Tom) Griffiths of Ponoka,
Don Heslop of Bashaw, Mary ( John) Kulhavy of Edson, Elaine ( Jeff) Wolfe of Lacombe,
Tim ( Debbie) Heslop of Leslieville, Norma ( Fred) Wilkins of Beiseker, Lylla ( Craig)
Macdonald of Alix; also son- in- law Dave Zimmer; 17 grandchildren; 15 great
grandchildren, three sisters, three brothers and their families.
