PROGRAMS Our programs at the meetings have reflected our faithful following of our motto: ' Tor Home and Country," and our concern that we be more than just a women's social club. At the fourth meeting, Mrs. L. S. Cutler presented a paper on the Fundamentals of Parliamentary Practice as applied to '/ omen's Institutes. From the minutes, ' This paper was so full instruction that the secretary proposed by motion that it become the property of the society. Carried. A year later L. S. Cutler, a Rimbey lawyer, spoke on Women's Rights in Alberta, saying that he considered these rights were based on Christianity. He dealt with property rights, divorce, separation, and alimony laws, and the recent judgment of the Privy Council: " That women were persons, with the right to sit in the senate.' We became well informed about the work of the League of Nations. Rev. W. J. Moores of Bentley addressed us twice. Following his second speech, Peace and the Work of the League," he was presented with a $ 5.00 gold piece. Other speackers on the League included Mrs. 0. Simon, Rev. Geo. D. Young, and L. S. Cutler, who dealt expecially with the League's preservation of peace. He cited major causes of war: ( 1) Private manufacture of armaments ( 2) Present economic system ( 3) Need for an outlet for expanding populations As mothers, we were deeply interested in Education. Through the years many members of the Rimbey School Staff were guest speakers. In May, 1934, Ottar Massing discussed Physical Education in the schools. Five years later his subject was " Problems in Modern Education. He outlined the new ' Enterprise System' , in which facts are learned as the need arises- as opposed to being presented as meaningless data. Other Rimbey teachers who spoke to us on educational topics i r r i n d e d : Margie McCrea, Louis Vaghell, Gordon Mattias, Lawson Dewar, Lyla Bennett, and Mabel Sorenson. Several of our own members, too, have provided good programs on education and among these were: Mrs. E. George: Major Problems in Education Mrs. M. S.
