She shared this gift by teaching both
students and adults her skill. She
willingly volunteered her time and

demonstrated her love of music in the
community choir. She will be lovingly
remembered by her husband, two

a farm with 3 sisters and 7 brothers.
In the early 1930s Amelia moved to
Edmonton where she married Fred

Fidelis Group at the Strathcona Baptist
Church and was an active participant
in making quilts for the Red Cross.
After her husband passed
away in the early 1960s she moved to
Edmonton where she put her sewing
talents to work as a seamstress for
a drapery firm. Amelia loved to
travel visiting Australia, the USA and
eastern Canada. She was also an avid
Edmonton Oiler fan.
Amelia moved to the Clover
Bar Lodge in Sherwood Park and then
the Sherwood Park Care Centre in 1996
where she passed away.

and snapping goofy poses of human
pyramids, rolling down hills and
sightseeing.
Mum taught me how to
embroider and knit. Her knitting
needles were constantly clicking. She
specialized in sweaters and layettes. I
bet she dressed dozens of babies over
the years.
She also made the best ever
roast beef dinner with Yorkshire
pudding. Those long ago Sunday meals
are still so clearly visible in my mind’s
eye that I can almost smell and taste
