Elizabeth has been involved in her community, particularly serving on both the Stony Plain Public Library Board and the Yellowhead Regional Library Board, many committees and volunteer assignments at the Multi- cultural Heritage Centre ( where she also worked part time for many years), her local Anglican Church both with the Church Vestry and the Anglican Church Women - she is also Prayer Partner Secretary for the Diocese of Edmonton ACW Board. As well as the various offices held in Women's Institute, Elizabeth was also a facilitator with both series of Communicate with Confidence workshops - watching participants gain speaking confidence was a source of great satisfaction to her. Over the years, Elizabeth enjoyed her involvement in the Federated Women's Institute of Canada and being able to attend both national and international conferences in many parts of Canada and around the world. Elizabeth received the Stony Plain and District Honored Citizen Award in 1989 and the Canada 125 Medal in 1992. Elizabeth loves reading, crafts and cats - not necessarily in that order! Her main " retirement" project is researching and recording her family history, and cataloguing family items so her children will appreciate their history.
