On April 29,1939, Olive was united in marriage to Wilfred John Meyer and to this union was three children; Clifford Camille; Fern Patricia and Lloyd Wilfred. When a cousin's wife passed away suddenly, they opened their home to a five- month- old baby, Norman Patrick and raised him with their children. For many years, Wilfred, Olive, Clifford, Fern and Lloyd had a family band called the " Nite Riders" and went all over central Alberta playing and singing country music. As the children grew- up and moved away, they had different musicians in the community join their band. Olive is involved in many areas of the community. - She was a Ceramic Instructor at the Falun Community Hall for three years and then had her own shop for another fifteen years with up to fourteen students in a class. While in ceramics, she re- finished the fourteen Stations of the Cross that are in the newly built St. Theresa's Catholic Church at Ma- Me- O- Beach. Also re- done the St. Theresa Grotto that stands outside and in front of the church. - Olive is a painter and loves painting in oils. Many of her paintings hang in her grand children's homes as well as her own. One of her paintings " The Waterfall" hangs in the hall of the St. Theresa's church at Ma- Me- O. - Olive has sung in the church choir since 1952; is presently on the Council and does all the Memorials for the church. - Olive decorated wedding cakes for many weddings in the Community. She remembers decorating thirteen wedding cakes before Christmas one year; it was hard work and took a steady hand. - Olive presently sings with the Mulhurst Bay Singers. Olive joined the Alberta Women's Institutes on May 6, 1964 and has been an active member of the Falun Women's Institute since that time. Over the years, she has held the positions of President, Secretary and Treasurer at the branch level. One of the highlights of her involvement with the WI was when she won the Alberta Wheat Pool Scholarship to the Banff School of Fine Arts in 1970; a ten day course on Public Speaking and Conference Programming.
