There were a total of 55 participants at the "Hawaiian Team Weekend 2005" from three Clubs; Cool Crafts, ( Cottonwood - Gordon and Innisfail area), Tomahawk, (Tomahawk area), and Round Valley, (Drayton Valley area). This year the camp committee developed a Hawaiian theme using activities to develop leadership, group initiative, team co-operation and awareness of team members. The Girls' Club members were divided into six groups, given their group colours using bandannas, a Hawaiian Island name, and a passport to learning through teamwork. Throughout the weekend they learned interesting facts about the Hawaiian islands. They developed leadership skills, fellowship with members of other clubs, an awareness of the importance of the team support through various activities planned: high ropes, group initiative obstacle course, sand volleyball, swimming, hikes, crafts, and teamwork games. With the support of their team many of the girls were able to "go above and beyond" their own comfort zone, particularly at the high ropes activity, where they were harnessed and climbed high over the ground to the "fear factor" activities as the Cat Walk, Canoe Climb and Leap of Faith. The high ropes was one of the highlights of our awesome weekend. When asked, many of the girls expressed a wish to do more of this activity. Camp Caroline provided a lovely facility. Lane Elliott and all the staff at Camp Caroline were wonderful in providing their help, encouragement, and support for this weekend getaway. Bouquets of roses go out to the camp committee: Trina Cunningham, Cindi Sapizak, and Maggie Peckham for all their tremendous work in setting up and making the camp an unforgettable experience for the girls.wi 9
