Other resolutions were passed asking that legislation be enacted to protect waitresses from being exploited by long hours and inadequate remuneration; and urging measures to have all vehicles on public roads in Alberta carry reflectors or other warning lights. Since that time legislation has been introduced to those ends. Decision was made that scholarships of $50.00 be awarded to students at Vermilion and Olds Schools of Agriculture, and at this 1939 convention the delegates unanimously agreed to establish an Emergency War Fund as a Provincial project. The 1939 convention was held in the Macdonald Hotel, Edmonton. October 10, 11, and 12, in order to meet at the same time that the F.W.I.C. Board members were having their meeting. Thus it "'as that eighteen years after the first F.I.W.C. Board meeting held in Edmon. ton (1921), Alberta once more welcomed the thirty Federated delegates to the A.W.L convention. Only the names of Mrs. Alfred \Vatt, Mrs. Elizabeth Bailey Price, and Mrs. V. S. MacLaughlin in the list of those at the Edmonton Board meeting in 1921, appeared on the 1939 list. Mrs. Alfred Watt, in 1939, was president of the Associated Country Women of the World, and she gave an interesting account of her visits to the women's groups in various parts of the world. :.vII's. Price was editor of the Canadian Horne and Country magazine. Mrs. Elizabeth Bailey Price passed away in Vancouver :\Iarch 2. 1944. Her association with Women's Institutes for many years endeared her to women throughout the organization. Mrs. Alfred "VaU died suddenly in Montreal, on November 29, 1948. To the cause of Women's Institutes, she dedicated over 35 years of her life. During the First World War, she organized Women's Institutes after the Canadian model in the United Kingdom, and between the wars she organized the Associated Country Women of the World. an international alliance of the Women's Institutes and kindred bodies in different countries. Mrs. J. A. Campbell, Milk River, and the Provincial President. Mrs. Wm. Stewart were Alberta's representatives at the F.W.I.C. Board meeting. In addition to those already mentioned, members in attendance were: Mrs. H. MacGregor, Penticton, B.C., president; Mrs. J. B. Rogers, Penticton, B.C.; Mrs. H. H. Pitts, Nelson, B.C.;}Irs. B. F. Gummow, Peachland, B.C.. Mrs. J. P. Ferguson, Trochu, Alberta: Mrs. J. R. Near, Pinkham, Sask.; Mrs. E. E. Ducie, Dundurn, Sask.: Mrs. T. H. Wright, Richard, Sask.; Miss Bertha Oxner, Saskatoon, Sask.: Miss Mabel Childerhose, Rosser, Man.; Miss Esther Thompson, Winnipeg, Man.; Mrs. W. H. Hicks, Souris, Man.; Mrs. J. L.
