plain white, approximately 3 x 5. inch cards. Each person tries to get the autograph of as many ladies as possible that she has never met before. As she meets and speaks to new ladies through the day, she asks for their name, address and interesting items about her to put on the card. A prize could be offered for the most names, or these. may be just the means of establishing pen friendships. "Numbering for Group Discussions-Colored cards are numbered for the number of groups desired--one number for each color. Each person receives her numbered card when she registers. Discussion leaders could have colored numbered cards also. Group leaders could have larger numbered cards so that they can be easily seen. The colored cards make identification easier as the ladies mix throughout the day and it is easier to find those belonging to your group. This serves as an opening for conversation as well. With groups already formed, they could be called on at different times of the day to do various things, such as 'Blues pass the morning coffee,' 'Reds pass the afternoon coffee,' 'Yellows collect the evaluation sheets,' 'Orange Group pass the song sheets,' etc. "Entertainment at Conferences-Use local talent as much as possible. Try to have a few items of entertainment through the day. Have each Branch responsible for providing an item of entertainment. Make use of the National Film Board Films, The Department of Extension at the University has a film library and catalogue of films, so suitable ones may be chosen, since each one is briefly described. Try to have films fit in with the theme of the Conference or pertain to some aspect of our studies. These will be educational as well as entertaining. If time permits, plan a tour of a point of interest nearby, or plan your noon luncheon in the form of a picnic. Members could be asked ahead of time to bring a box lunch, with the hostess Branch providing the coffee or tea. "Items That Add Enjoyment-Morning Coffee before the Conference starts. Many women will have come quite a distance and would appreciate a cup of coffee. Door prizes for Attendance are sometimes provided by local merchants. Set an alarm clock to ring at the undisclosed time-have a number sealed in an envelope. When the alarm goes off, the prize goes to the person whose name is opposite the winning number in the registration book. Other attendance prizes can be given for The Youngest Member; The Oldest Member; The One With the Largest Family; The One Who has Come the Greatest Distance to Attend; The One Who Got Up Earliest to Do Baking Before the Conference that Morning; The Newest Institute Member; The One Who Has Been in W.I. the Longest; The Woman Whose Husband Volunteered to do the Breakfast Dishes So She Could Get Ready for the Conference; etc. "Always have a pitcher of cold water and drinking glasses on the Speaker's Table. Cover the Speaker's Table with a cloth that hangs low enough in front to cover the knees of ladies seated on the platform. They will feel much more comfortable, if this is done. "Presenting Reports-Add variety by having these done in panel presentation with a moderator to bring out and comment on interesting items. Each Standing Committee Convener should be prepared to offer suggestions of the following year's work or study a special project, or topic. The use of a flannelgraph, rip chart, blackboard or posters for illustrated talks, adds interest to the presentation. "To Increase Attendance--Have an attendance trophy to present to the Branch having the largest percentage of their Members present.
