Young lady sits reading- Bell rings- Maid carrying tray goes to door- Takes card- ushers ,in gentleman~ Miss Popularity greets him cordially- Thanks him for artificial flowers he brings- They sit down and carry on animated conversation- Again bell rings- Maid returns with another card- Lady looks at it- Is flustered- Grabs first man, pulls him out of his seat, brings him to his knees, puts tray on his head, throws tablecloth over him, thus making a table out of him- Second young man comes in-Hands her a box of candy, which lady puts on the improvised table- Conversation. Again bell rings- Miss Popularity seizes second man, stands him up, converts him into a hat rack by throwing overcoat over his head, his arms "through the sleeves- Hastily jams hat over one of his outstretched arms. Third Caller- Repeat maid-card, etc.- Caller comes in- hangs hat on other outstretched arm- Conversation- Bell rings- This time Third Caller is transformed into armchair by dropping him int() a chair and covering him with a blanket. (During all this time the "table" II1ay reach up and help himself to candy occasionally."Hat Rack" may change his position). Fourth Caller starts to seat himself on improvised' airmchairLady excitedly grabs him and thrusts him, toward another seat. Hat Rack in rebellious mood now shoves Number Four into table and both fall against chair. All come from cover and run off platform looking disgustingly at one another. Each CaBer should 'reach, the point of proposal before ben for next Caller interrupts. Number. Four is the man she accepts and she walks off with him or any other finish decided upon.

Wife comes in with clothes in basket-Scolds him because he has not yet repaired her clothes line- She sets basket down and goes outMan mutters to himself and goes to work. Sets up two clothes poles (Two women serve as these) Fastens twine to one-Twine is too short-so he unties it from first pole and ties it to second one-Too short again so he cuts it in the middle and ties one half to each pole--- Then tries to fasten it in the middle-Too short so he takes an article of clothing from basket and fastens the twine to it-He sits down, to. relax again but, wife comes in and scolds furiously while she unties twine-She pulls man up and fasten the two short ends of twine to his thumbs and starts hanging up clothes.
