Courses could be held on Line Block Printing, Decorating with Tile, and Nutrition. One popular Course was "W.I. Grooming" given by experts in the field. On Monday a Demonstration was given on the right and wrong ways to stand, sit and walk with corrective exercises for all sorts of acquired defects. On Tuesday, Avon Products Beauty Editor using a Model, showed skin care and make-up. On Wednesday, a Fashion Consultant of T. Eaton's showed the ladies how to combine accessories to 'stretch" their wardrobe. On Thursday, the President of the Art Institute of Hairdressing with five volunteer models, demonstrated hairstyling. Thus, four interesting days of grooming were held showing what right care and attention can do for ordinary housewives. A Leadership Training Course on "Looking to the Future" and another on "Painting for Pleasure" proved beneficial and interesting. Suggested Ideas for Projects--Plant trees in honor of special events; Get equipment for schools and playgrounds; Hold Essay Contest for Students with the Winner reading his essay at the Meeting; Arrange Swimming Courses with volunteers to help with the little ones; Own and Operate a Library; Make May Baskets with real or plastic flowers or cut-outs from used greeting cards to be used on trays in Chronic Hospitals; Hold Clean-up and Beautifying Campaign-plant trees and flowers and get behind the law on 'Litterbugs'; Make marionettes and put on a show; Give prizes for best photo albums of Branch activities in the Constituency; Buy a Film Projector for school or community; Hold Tulip, Gladioli or Lily Show. First study their culture, then distribute bulbs or corms for planting. Hold a Display of blooms and give prizes. A visit to a Greenhouse may give pleasure; A Garden Project along similar lines, distributing vegetable seeds and at height of season, a tour is held. and prizes awarded. For Centennial Projects-Improve halls and grounds; libraries; Hold Flag raising ceremonies at Civic Centre around midday, with parade of Scouts and Guides, etc.; Clean up Historical Sites, Place Wreaths on Memorials; Feature Canadian Flag from all poles for all public occasions; Take a Historic Tour with an able courier to tell about the places visited; Study Lives of Fathers of Confederation. Other. Activities-Hold Mystery Picnics and Birthday Parties; make visits to different cities and TV Stations and have summer Get-to-gethers; Arrange a Babysitter Course-the Alberta Safety Council can assist with this; Hold a Mock Trial; Study How to Conduct Meetings and how to participate, then work up a funny skit 'On How Not To,; Hold a Course in Public Speaking; Gather fats to make soap for Korea and scraps of wool and plastic soap bottles for Retarded Children; Have a UN Dinner at 12:30 each Member bringing a dish from another country; Hold a Meeting in Senior Citizens Lodge, giving corsages or growing plants to the ladies; Give a Welcome to new teachers in the community; Show Cancer and 1B Films, etc.; Write Round Robin Letters to ill. Members or absent ones. Hold Exchange Bingo Games and Bonspiels; Display antiques with their history; Sponsor Scholarships in Nursing, Agriculture and Music; Hold a Garden Party; Arrange a 'Play Day' with planned activities for children of various ages; Have a Mystery Trip-Only one or two responsible for the planning know where you are going and what you are going to do. Just inform each one re the lunch and approximate time of return; Hold a Progressive Supper for Members and Husbands.
