Näyttääkseni jollakin ta-- kin tasavallan presidentin vau- - vasta äskettäin saapuneen

ikäänkuin lepytelläkseen mi--
nua sanoi:
"No minä nyt otan puhelun

bounced onto the North Ame-rican
scene with her 'Feminine
Mystique' a new
about the unequal status of
vvomen in real terms has been
shaking our society
In his discussions with
German femfnist and socialist
leader Clara Zetkin Lenin
clearly pointed out that women
could never have social equality
until they had economic equali- -
ty He stressed they had to be
liberated from the kitchen and
have an equal place and equal
opportunity in the vvork-pla-ce
These discussions vvere almost
60 years ago
This is one of the areas of
social activity in the German
Democratic Republic vvhere
fantastic progress has been
made The statistics are
and impressive in
the extreme For example in
public life vvomen account for
vvo- -
men of vvorking age are vvage
earners and enjoy equal pay
vvork of equal value alongside
men Women constitute just
about total vvork jbrce
In the GDR colleges and
universities vvomen have a
slight edge in numbers
cating they are certainly not
to be left behind in future
social activity
Leaders in the GDR rea--
dily confirm there are still prob-lems
It is a certainty equal
rights for vvomen cannot be
achieved Even
though those rights for equal
status of men and vvomen is
enshrined in lavv in German
socialist state it takes a long

pride Scientifically conceived
and operated they stress fun

to get along vvith one another as
social beings and to develop
manual and digital dexterity

pre-scho- ol placements has not
yet been fully met some 58 out
of every 100 children under age
3 go to a'daycare centre 94 of
every 100 youngsters betvveen

joutaisi tekemäänkään kuin ty-perille
talonjusseille viisautta
jakamaan"
Mestari käänsi selkänsä ja
meni pois Isäntämies jatkoi
myöskin matkaansa itsekseen
myhäillen '
Kun' hän oli kävellyt niin
pitkän matkan päähän ettei pu-he
enää kuulunut kysyi kivi
työmies Hiltunen mestarilta

valmiiksi siihen men-nessä
kun lomanne loppuu
koska tässä rupeatte röyhkei-lemää- n"
"Ei puhuta mistään röyh-keilys- tä
minä tahdon vain lo-mani
aikana lepuuttaa hermoja-ni
ja määrätä itse ajastani"
Murta veturimestari ei hel-littänyt
"Jos jaksonpäällikkö tulee'
tarkastukselle lomanne aikana
pidetään asiastanne kuulustelu
joka tapauksessa vai luulette-ko
olevanne sellainen herra
'että "teidän asianne vuoksi yk-sistään
jaksonpäällikkö tänne
matkustaisi Taitaa jo tuulla
housuihin koska ette uskalla
tulla --kuulusteluun?"
"Ei pahasti mutta kuten jo
sanoin en ole kuukauteen ta-vattavissa
jajos luulette voivan-ne1
antaa 'minulle potkut noin
vain niin olkaapa hyvä!"
