The Little
The little snovvflake opened her eyes yavvned
and gazed about herself She lay on a dovvny
deep-blu- e bed and ali around her curled dark
blue mist
"What's this? Where am I?" thought the
snovvflake and lovvered her bare feet to get
down Instantly parkling shoes glittered on her
feet and a glistening dress shimmered about her
body
"How lovely!" laughed the snovvflake and the
dress quivered and chimed The thick mist also
began to tinkle and swing and little stars of
frost swirled around her There were so many
that you couldn't begin to count them
"Happy Birthday dear sister!" they chimed ali
together
"But where are we?" asked the snovvflake in
amazement
"In a cloud This is where we were born and it's
our home But let's dance now!" The snowflakes
whirled svviftly and merrily about Their little
sister joyfully clapped her hands
"Oh how enchanting!"
"Just wait a bit" responded the stars "Soon we
will fly over fields and forests over cities and
seas Then we can dance and have fun to our
hearts' content We'll cover the land with white
snow and Winter will really begin
The cloud grew more and more crowded and
cheerful And then the snowflakes burst out into
freedom The wind snatched up the white
cluster tossed it down then threvv it right up to
the blue clouds

niin kalliita kuka niitä saa?
Joulupukit tavarataloissa kulkevat karamellit lapsille
jakavat
Kaikki hinnat jouluksi kallistuvat
tammikuussa kaikki halpenevat
Jouluna herkuilla mässäillään
aivan liikaa vatsaa täytetään
Silloin kun syötte muistakaa:
on maailmassa monta nälkää näkevää

"O-o-o-o-- l" cried the snowflake "I'm scared!"
"Don't be frightened" said a frosty star "It's
just the naughty wind playing Put your arms
around me and l'll teach you how to fly"
The snowflake embraced her friend The
snowstorm whirled them about Huge cities and
seas endless fields and dense forests spun before
the wanderer's eyes until she tired of flyingand
let herself down to earth
VVhen the spring sun began to warm the earth
the snowflake nodded off to sleep and was not
even aware that she had become a tiny little
drop of water The sun burnt more fiercely
turning the little drop into invisible steam vvhich
rose up up into the bright blue spring sky The
snowflake's sisters who covered the earth with a
white blanket also melted and floated up as
steam forming threatening clouds in the spring
sky
The next Winter the snowflake up in her own
home the dark blue cloud And once again her
sisters greeted her and once more they romped
and danced then flew over the land dressing it
in a beautiful white gown
The wind threw the snowflake right into the
foröst onto the rim of a hollow tree where lived
two titmice — little yellow birds with black
neck-tie- s
"Oh what a hard vvinter! What a bad storm!"
lamented one titmouse "The snow has covered
up everything There's not a seed or a speck of
grain to be found!"
"But Winter vvill soon pass" consoled the other
"The buds are swelling on the birch trees and
we'll feed choicely on them"
