this is a definite obstacle which
must be overcome for peace to
gain momentum We must not
as individuals or as nations
'get stuck' in one particular
ideology as the only way to go
othenvise we will end up
alienating the majority of
people who adhere to cultural
and social practices different
from our own The goal of peace
is not to make ourselves iden-tic- al
to one another
Peace in itself is a unifying
force amongst people but to
ensure that our governments
move toward peace we have to
make them contend with us as a

would therefore argue that in-depen-dent
peace groups who
succeed to the level of a national
organization such as the CPA
have the credibility and stron-ge- st
forum in working vvith their
governments toward peace
Peace is more than disar-mament
This Alliance is a
cornerstone which must be
preserved with ali our energies

here in Canada as no

upon to ensure future peace
We as Canadians have no right
to be passive in lieu of a
confrontation betvveen these
tvvo superpovvers
The CPA is novv actively
vvorking for us Functions of the
CPA include: netvvorking
amongst groups concerned vvith
peace information shaing
amongst groups concerned vvith
peace discussion of ideas and
issues in a national forum and
facilitating of opportunities for
action betvveen groups concern-ed
vvith peace
We crossed a milestone at
the first meetingof the CPA and
as a result Canada novv has an
active independent peace or-ganization
vvhich identifies us
to the vvorld peace audience
and reinforces our grovving and
unifying concerns vvith peace at
home
