laisuuksien osaksi kiduvan syksyn a i ­kana,
jatkui viime smmuntaina, kun
urheiluseura, "Kisa" tarjosi nähtä­väksi
Arvi Seppälän viisinäytöksisen
kappaleen: "Erämaan ritarit". Haa-liln

sitten julkaissut. Khrjotukset slsäUöl-tään
eivät ole viisaudella pilattuja,
osaksi uhkuvia toivomuksia, väärää
historiikkia Ja tiedonannot sommi­teltu
Industrialismiin mukautuvaksi,
mutta ennenkaikkea meidän "keltais­ten
kommunistien** kaikki toiminta on
"industrialisoitu", joka kuitenkin on
Jaakko paran pä&Uä lilan kova pus­kea,
Niin, sitten vielä ne uljaat "Kale­van
ritarit", se se ipn ainoa toiminta­muoto

kirjeessään Jaakko esimerkkiä ottaa
kaiyoskomppänialn: yhtymisestä, kuin­ka

ajalla, että mitenkähän olisi jos me
työläiset kaikki kuuluisimnie yhteen
ja samalla työläisten unioon, eikö­hän
meillekin tulisi voimaa seisaut-jia
jokapäiväisissä oloissa, varsinkin
täällä taantumuksen pesässä, jossa
yhdistyn^eet pääomat nälkäruoskaa

noudattavat tarkcdn syyn ja
seurauksen lakia, ja tarjoavat jatku­vasti
lisääntyviä jännitystä loppuui^
saakka. Henkilökuvat Johtavissa tyy­peissä
on hyvin hahmoteltu, kuten
SepjKilän teoksissa yleensä, j a vuoro­puhelu
on täsmällistä Ja ajätusrlkaS'
ta. Sen vuoksi "Erämaan-ritarit" on
hyvä näytelmä, vaikka taustana ole­vien
Pohjolan olojen knvaidcset s i ­sältävätkin
kirjailijah romanttista
mielikuvitusta. '
Esityksen suhteen voitiin tehdä seu­raavia
huomioita: Päähenkilö, '^Tun-tematon",
oli A- Heiskasen käsissä.
Siinä oli Ig^Uä voimaa ja tulta, kuten
intomieliseltä kapinalliselta voi odot­taakin,
mutta esitys kokonaisuudes­saan
ei ollut täysin ehyttä. Tunne-vaihtelujen
tulkinta oli paikkapai­koin
särmikästä ja hiomatonta, jonka
lisäksi tavaksi tullut jalkojen nytkäh-tely
vaikutti häiritsevästi. Laulu oli
heikkoa ja naamio epäonnistunut.
Vohnakas viha tuli häneltä parhaiten
tulkituksi,
Lövenbbrgin tyttären. Hellan, osan
vei Maiju Hamar^ tottuneesti, mutta
piitä tuntui puuttuvan välittömyyttä
ja ttmneherkkyyttä. Muista naisosls-ta
mainittakoon tukkikämpän emän-nöltsljä
Vappii (LyyU Toivonen), n i ­mismiehen
tytär Eeva (Nellle Salo),
ja viinakauppias Sanna (PUna Heis­kanen).

woodworker, arrested on the Ist of
March. 1927, on the Street. He was
beaten about. the head <by a police
and his arms twisted up behind his
back ca^ing him great pain. When
the attention of the prison doctor
was drawn tö the bruises and con-tuslons,
he said. "They will go awäy
on their öwn."

Young Com'munist League. The charge
was based upon the statement of a
police spy, named Pshevosniak. The
preliminary examination lasted two
and a half years and when the trial
finally took place Rossolek and K o -
ribllt were sentenced to 3 years Im­prlsonment
each, Dobroyolskl, Volt-zekovski,
Mlenek, Sviotkoyskl and
others to two years imprlsonment each.
I n Radom two young workers,«Geltz-mann
and Fuchs were arrested. and
charged wlth having distrlbuted ille-gal
working class newspapers, After
having been 3 months in prison
awaiting trial the' coiurt was forced
to acquit them for lack of evidence
and they we're then released. Early
the next morning ^owever, they were
again arrested - a t the order of the
public prosecutor.
The young workers Tcnnenbaum
and Tkatch were sentenced to 6 years
hard labor, each, for having allegedly
transported lUegal literature. As a
result öf an appeal the sentences
recelved 6 years imprlsonment for the
same "crime." After maltreatment
at the hands of the pollce In Brest
a pupil of the Russian Gymnasiimi
(high schooI) fell sick wlth tubercu-losis.
The Pinsk dlstrict coturt then
sentenced him to S years imprlson­ment.
I n Lodz in 1927 the 19 year old were
reduced to 4 years hard labor each.
Neither of the accused had reached
*he age of 18 when sentenced. The
17 year old Ooldfarb Gluechstadt v^as
sentenced to two terms of imprlson­ment
each of three years, each for
having taken part in a meeting of
the textlle workers and i n a street
denionstratlon.
In May 1926 the young worker
Landau was sentenced to 6' months
imprlsonment in Zaglemb. The basls
for the sentence was follovving: Dur-ing
ä detnpnstratlon ,a young worker
carrying a banner of the Young Com-munist
League supported himself for
a moment on the shoulder of Landau.
In Lodz in the autumn of 1926 the
17 year old young worker Moshnovitz
was sentenced to \% years imprlson­ment
for having allegedly particlpated
conästent grovth from 1925 to 1927
and to 1928 are sure laromlse of f u -
ture develoiHnent.
The large percentage pf children
of worker8 and the fidr percentage
of children of poor farmers Is anoth-er
evldexxoe of the heaithy bads of
the movement

"The Youthful Guardsmen" and "The
