we went by train and met at the

on our way and air I can say is that
there was no reason to: be scared.
It was wonderful! ^
Our first stop was Newfoundland,
long enough to stretch our legs. It
took 4 hours to reach there. From
there we flew to London which took
us MO hours. It was grand flying-weather
over the Atlantic at °9,000
feet.
We had a couple of hours in London
after which we took a train for
Dover, from there a train^ ferry to
Dunkerque, France and then to old
Paris.
Here we had a chance to stay
about 8 hours so in groups we visit-ed
different historical places.' We
left Paris about 9.30 p.m. by train
through Westem GermanyV
When we got to the Czech border
we were greeted with foodj 'flowers
and a grand vvelcome as if xve were
coming .home.
We travelled through Czechoslo-vakia
for about 24 hours. On our
route we saw nothiog but'grain
fields the whole way throtigh. It
makes one wonder how come the
people are starving, as the Canadian
newspap6rs claim, in thesenricb i ag-ricultural
countries. ' o s

Once again, as has been happening for as manyyears

simply disappears when it comes time for summer holidays
Now your pinchhitting editor is in the tmenviable position
of having to expound his theoties on what is what. Not that
I mind that disappearing act, I did that myself here just
a few weeks ago. It sure does a feIlow a world of good to get
away from ali this hustle and bustle, even if for just ashort
time, and not leave any trail which could bö followed and
which would inevitably lead to some duty or other^
Ho, hum! Now the Big Dq is over for another year and-as
was confidently predicted, it was a howling success. For
quite some years there has not been the interest displayed,
the number of contestants, the number of.visitors.etc. that
took part in this the first joint sports and music festival.
Everything, with the exception öf some technical difficulties,
went off without a hitch. And I for one feel sure that these
difficulties in the form of tight, and in some places unfavour-able,
Schedule for the.athletes, can be overcome in time for
the next big festival; which is being held next year at the
uncomparable Is;ku track and park in Port Arthur. Fm looking
forward to it already^ It is not too early to start thinking
of what shape you will be in to competeagainst people/you
will meet there.

of a combin^d sports and music festival was a good, idea.
The enthusiasm shown at this last festival last_weekend
• proves conclusively that it will be even a bigger affair next
year.

On OUT joumey down to Toronto
we went by train and met at the

left on Sunday, July 22nd. puses

I was scared to death %s I had
never been on a plane befoire. After
weighingour luggage and taking a
few snaps of the plane we went in
änd sat .do\vn. Before long we were
on our way and air I can say is that
there was no reason to: be scared.
It was wonderful! ^
Our first stop was Newfoundland,
long enough to stretch our legs. It
took 4 hours to reach there. From
there we flew to London which took
us MO hours. It was grand flying-weather
over the Atlantic at °9,000
feet.
We had a couple of hours in London
after which we took a train for
Dover, from there a train^ ferry to
Dunkerque, France and then to old
Paris.
Here we had a chance to stay
about 8 hours so in groups we visit-ed
different historical places.' We
left Paris about 9.30 p.m. by train
through Westem GermanyV
When we got to the Czech border
we were greeted with foodj 'flowers
and a grand vvelcome as if xve were
coming .home.
We travelled through Czechoslo-vakia
for about 24 hours. On our
route we saw nothiog but'grain
fields the whole way throtigh. It
makes one wonder how come the
people are starving, as the Canadian
newspap6rs claim, in thesenricb i ag-ricultural
countries. ' o s
When we hit the; U,S.S.B. border
we had bands and people galore

Once again, as has been happening for as manyyears
as this t l u b News section has been published,youf editor
simply disappears when it comes time for summer holidays
Now your pinchhitting editor is in the tmenviable position
of having to expound his theoties on what is what. Not that
I mind that disappearing act, I did that myself here just
a few weeks ago. It sure does a feIlow a world of good to get
away from ali this hustle and bustle, even if for just ashort
time, and not leave any trail which could bö followed and
which would inevitably lead to some duty or other^
Ho, hum! Now the Big Dq is over for another year and-as
was confidently predicted, it was a howling success. For
quite some years there has not been the interest displayed,
the number of contestants, the number of.visitors.etc. that
took part in this the first joint sports and music festival.
Everything, with the exception öf some technical difficulties,
went off without a hitch. And I for one feel sure that these
difficulties in the form of tight, and in some places unfavour-able,
Schedule for the.athletes, can be overcome in time for
the next big festival; which is being held next year at the
uncomparable Is;ku track and park in Port Arthur. Fm looking
forward to it already^ It is not too early to start thinking
of what shape you will be in to competeagainst people/you
will meet there.
AU of ,which leads us to the conclusion that this idea
of a combin^d sports and music festival was a good, idea.
The enthusiasm shown at this last festival last_weekend
• proves conclusively that it will be even a bigger affair next
year.
