Dear Irja-täti, boys and girls.
I have done ali my Cluristmas
Shopping, and out of tlie ten dol-lars
I eamed by myself I only had
28 cents left, I . rea|ly found a
sneaky- place to hide my gifts, but
stlll I hope no one wUl f i n d t h e m .
At School wedecQrated our tree
and it does look bice with its
shimmering omaments. We Iia4 to
clean our desfcs and take a l i our art
and plants home. - O u r teacherr
though all of the rush, is very
cafin. On Tuesday we. heard re-cords,
that children had brought,
f o r a f u l l hour. F o r Friday we have
planned a concert. The main attrac-:
tion is a fashion show but i t might
be called off because hot enough
boys have volunteered,' though i t is
not summer. I wrote a poem about
THE RIVER
The river runs a merry life.
it runs its path witliout strife.
It shimmers l i k e a cave of ]ewels,
Thecurrent runs a steady rule.
On a stormy night it's a rushing
torrent.
The rumbling you hear i s the
fnistrated current ;
On a calm Sunday moming,
The w]tirlpooIs cease turning.
The river, the r i v e r it's sweet
water swaying,
to me i t quietly seems to be saying.
"I am the river, I f low to the sea,
Go to your home and do not
followme."

York Hotel i n Toronto at a jGItfist-mas'

Clowns gave us l>ags of Candy and
Santa Claus was there also.

Colouring Contest
Weil the Xmas Coloring" Contest
came to an end, and a very good
contest itvvasi The response to the
contest. was very gratifying, con-sidering
that there was no mention
beforehand that a corttest \vould
be held.
AU in ali there were ten partici-pants.
Out of 18 who vvrite to the
c,''Perheen- Nuoremmat" 4he result
was indeed very, vei7 good. AU of
the pictures were very weU done,
so well, in f act that the editorial
board was "hard put" to pick the
winners. As a result the smallest
details had to be taken into con-sideration,
Such as No. 1, the patch
on Santa Claus' bag. Now most
of the pictures had the bag' and
patch the same colour. and we
thought the patch should be a dif-ferent
colour. No. 2: The stripe
on the boys pyjamas we also
thought should be a different co­lour
and as a result was another
determining factor in choosing the
winners. •

Don iHall Concert

TILATKAA VAPAUS! Dear Irja-täti, boys and girls.
• We^are practising very hard to
put on a Christmas concert at Don
Hall on December 22nd. There is
going to be a play then,and I am
going to be in it. At the end Santa
Claus is going to come and hand out
presents. The man who wrote the
play is,jnr. Laakso.
For New Year we are going to
Sudbury by train; It wUl b e a lot
of fun. At school in soccer our
school won the championship.

The weather here is cold and
snowy. We had a lot of snow here.
It was 27 below here. I hope we get
a rink at school soon so we can go.

Sunday Mornings
Dear Irjä-täti, boys and girls.
I am trying to write this letter
by' myself. I take ballet dancing
at the school on Saturday mornings,
which I like very much. On Sunday
mornings I go to tile Don HaU for
gym. We have lots of fun there.

A smaU chubby boy ran past
a policeman in the street at break-neck
speed. Five minutes later he
rushed. by again as determined as
the first t'mo. After he had re-peated
this about five times, the
policeman stopped him and asked,
•What's the idea, Sonny? What's
the rush?"
The boy looked very indignant
and shouted- "I am running awpy

same Street at least five times."
