The flower girls. train-bearers and crown-bearers r e - ceived gifts too. There were two kinds of M a y - P o l e dances and f o lk dances. A lot o f cars and trucks. bicycles a nd horses were decorated for i h e parade. which went a l i around town. It was quite a nice day o n M a y Day, while the ceremony was going on. When you leave from honie you take a n axe a n d traps and start for a creek where there i.s muskrats. You then take a log about five Inches thick or bigger and chop ä tint i n i t big enough to get your traps on. dancers. I h a d qulte a l o n g speech

I got 4 lovely gift for h a v i n g the
honour of being crowned Queen, a
heart-shaped locket a n d a bracelet to
match. My attendants got pretty
birthstone rings. The flower girls.
train-bearers and crown-bearers r e -
ceived gifts too. There were two
kinds of M a y - P o l e dances and f o lk
dances.
A lot o f cars and trucks. bicycles a nd
horses were decorated for i h e parade.
which went a l i around town. It was
quite a nice day o n M a y Day, while
the ceremony was going on.

äll my worthy subjects:
On this 24th of M a y , 1949, we have
gathered tt^ether again to take part
i n games and dancing, a joyous cele-b
r a t i o n o f theannlversary of the b i r th
of our great Queen Victoria. It Is
now many years since she passed äway
but her memory is kept fresh by the
crowning of M a y Queens In towns and
cities large and small throughout our
land,
I am very happy to have wan the
honour of being crowned Queen f or
May. of 1949. I want to be held i n
the same high esteem as m y predec-essors
a n d s h a l l try always to be a good
queen.
D u r i n g the t e rm of my Office it is
my desire, a n d I am sure the deslr^
of everyone here that the town of
Golden will grow and prosper. More-over,
we a l i want to see a provlnce
continue to progress. Vie a l i want to

week5 ago the D o m i h l o n of Canada

is coming before my aunt.
Last Saturday we were invited to
L o r r a l n e Jones* birthday party. She
is now 13 years old. I learned to d a n -

go and get them. I milked 2 cows

A f t e r that It was d i n n e r - t i m e so v e

to bed because I got m y feet wet.
I had not changed my shoes a nd
Etockings and my feet were sore.
Do you k n ow what! We have not
had school a l i week because the teach-er*
s father dled. Isn't i t wonderful!
I don't mean about her father dylng.
but that we haven"t had s i h o o l a l i
Week. I was getting fired of going tp
School but I guess its just for o u r own
good to go there. Thats the only r e a -
son I go to school.
Its almost three now so I guess I ' l l
t u r n the radio on. Do you like l i s t e -
ning to the stories? I do. Which one
do you l i k e the best? I like the
" R i g h t to Happiness" that comes on
at 3.45. Now what else do I have to
teli you. Oh yes!
I slept i n a tent one ovening at
home. Was i t ever nice! The mos-quitoes
didn't eveh bother me. I t h i nk
I got a little cold in there also so
I guess i t made my cold come o n .
I was a t W h i t e f i s h the Saturday
before last. Remember, I was wishing
that I could go.
On Wedn8sday I went to see t h e
play at the F i n n i s h H a l l . Was the
dance ever good i n the play. espscially
Dolores änd Jack Hymander. Last
Sunday J a c k and his wife Helen a n d
Dolores were over to show us h ow to
do the actions for the " l i i t t o j u h l a ".
Are they ever nice movements, espe-c
i a l l y the second one. I can't t h i n k of
anything else to say so I guei-s I"ll

My mother has a very beautiful

Wen. our school played baseball
against another school called North
Pelhani. They beat us 26—10. We're
going up there to play on PrIday.
We'll probably lose seeing as they hdve
sueh big boys and no g l r l s on their
team. But we"re going to t r y !
My little hawk didn't Uve. It got
too cold a couple of nights ago a n d I
think that caused Its death. The
fire went out i n the stove that night
and I found It almost dead In the
moming. It died thät same day.
I just came f r om Toronto now and
I thought I would llke to f l n i s h this
letter. My mother and I went wlth
my uncle to D o n Hall to see a play
there. It was pretty good.

a creek where there i.s muskrats. You
then take a log about five Inches thick

enough to get your traps on. Naii

Suhday, Waters township and Beaver
Lake. We won 13-11.
Our nelghbour's lady a n d I went for

Our final exams started on Tuesday.

It Is about time I wrot€ to thii^
page. The «reather out here has been
cold lately,
I caught five muskrat myself thi£
spring. I went to see m y brother'.'.
traps twjce. The f i r s t time out I
caught four muskrats a n d t h e next
time I only caught one. He gave me
one for going to see his traps.
One Saturday I went to help my
neighbour «ow hayseed. I made a
garden of m y own- I n i t I planted
pumpkins, watermelcns and radishtÄ

We leave It i n t h e bush but It soon
comes out y e u i n g for i ts m l l k . T h e
cow is getting another calf.
T h e cat feeds its k i t t e n e v e i ^ day
and night. It goes i n t h e bush to
hunt. When it comes back i t has a
rnouse i n i t s mouth, It takes It to
the l i t t l e k i t t e n . It U u g h t the k i t t en
to wasb itself,
We had another cat. It-went away

never came home.
I h a d a dog, It wa5 a good dog.
