From the early 20th century Yugoslav-America- ns have contributed to the
building and the wealth of our nation. Yugoslav-America- ns dug our coal,
made-o- ur steel, and like the great scientists Nikola Tesla and Michael
Pupin have also contributed their intellectual genius to make our country
richer materially and culturally, and
The Yugoslav-Americ- an community in Michigan, centered principally in the
metropolitan Detroit area seeks to exemplify the unity of the peoples of
Yugoslavia and more importantly set an example for Yugoslav-America- ns in
fostering harmony among all of our fellow citizens in this land. NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT
RESOLVED That the Detroit City Council hereby recognizes and supports Yugoslav-Americ- an
Days in Detroit, September 6-- 8, 1985, and asks all Detroiters to
be aware and appreciative of the valuable contributions of the Yugoslav
community to this city and state.

A Yugoslav visa can be obtained by applying in person or by mail to the appro-priate
Yugoslav Consulate or the Consular Section of the Embassy of Yugoslavia,
as listed below. Yugoslav-bor- n U.S. citizens should apply for visas at the Consu-lates
or Consular Section of the Embassy covering their state of residence.
Tourist visas for Yugoslavia are issued for a period of up to one year, provided
the passport is valid. Multiple entry-exi-t visas (which are also issued for a
period of up to one year) permit, upon each entry, a stay of up to 90 days.
If visas are requested by mail, enclose passport and stamped (certified mail)
selfaddressed return envelope along with visa application. (Visa application
forms may be obtained at any of the addresses listed below covering the state
of residence.)
If visas are required for business or official purposes, an official letter is requi-red
stating the nature of business, the name of the institution to be visited in
Yugoslavia (and its location) and the approximate duration of the visit.
Visas are issued free of charge and no photographs are necessary. Vaccinations
are not required. If travelling by car, a national driver's license, along with
vechile documents, is sufficient.

Kolo Group "&TJMADIJA" was created in 1957. In 1980 the Junior Kolo Group was formed. The group's repertoire now inclu-des
dances from all the Republics.of Yugoslavia. Beginning with
only tree sets of costumes, the Senior Kolo Group now owns 13 complete sets from the various regions of Yugoslavia. The Junior
Kolo Group owns three sets of costumes and will be adding more,
as time goes on. "SUMADIJA" has completed two succesful tours
of Yugoslavia, and hopes to plan a third tour in the future. "&U-MADIJ-A"
performs for all occassions.

Slavica Petrovic (rodena 5. januara 1964. u Sarajevo), izabrana je na proSlogodi-Snje- m
festivalu za Miss Yugoslav Festival '85. 31. maja ovegodine Slavica je zastu-pal- a
jugoslovensku zajednicu na izboru za Miss svih etnickih festivala na kojem
je ucestvovalo 17 djevojaka i biloje izabrana za drugu pratilju. Slavica inate zivi,
studira i radi u Windsoru, i vredno je aktivan druStveni radnik. Sekretarje kluba
"Zavidaj" i dlan folklorne sekcije (prva s leve).

Emigracijata od Stariot Kraj postaela uste od porano, pretezno od Tetovskiot,
Prespanskiot i Bitolskiot kraj, no poveketo od nasite, ili ako moze da receme
naglo naseluvanje pocnalo vo poslednite dvaesettina godini, so edna i edin-stven- a
zelba da si ostvarat podobra zarabotuvacka i poubav zivot za svoite
familii i za svoite bliski.
Po primerot na drugite Crkovno-skolsk- i opstini na Sverno-Amerikanski- ot kontinent i Makedoncite vo Detroit se zafatija za izvrsuvanje na edno Bogou-godn- o,
Crkovno-narodn- o Makedonsko delo, formiraa svoja Makedonska Pravo-slavn- a
Crkva, koja go nosi imeto na Majkata Bozja "RAGANJE NAPRESVETA
BOGORODICA". Inicijativi za formiranje na ovoj Crkven i voopSto kulturno-prosvete- n centar postoele uste oyo 197475 godina, no po red opravdani i
neopravdani pricini nemozese vo "potpolnost da se realizira ovaa damnesna
zelba. Blagodarenie na golemite napori sto gi vlozija blagocestivite Makedonci
od Detroit i okolnite mesta, na 24. Dekemvri, 1978 godina davnesniot son da
se ima svoe katce se ostvari-bes- e kupena Prvata i prava Makedonska Pravo-slavn- a
Crkva vo Detroit pod kanonska Jurizdikcija na Svetiot Arhierejski
Sinod na Makedonskata Pravoslavna Crkva od Skopje SR. Makedonija.
Osvetuvanjeto na Crkvata e izvrseno na 20. Juli. 1980. godina od Nadlezniot
Eparhiski Arhierej Mitropolitot Amerikansko-Kanadsk- i Gospodin KIRIL, vo
asistencija na golem broj sveStenosluziteli od drugite Makedonski Crkvi vo
Amerika i Kanada i golem broj Makedonski vernici i drugi pocituvaci na,
Makedonskiot narod i Makedonskata pravoslavna Crkva. Prv parohiski sveste-ni- k bese prota Eco Jovanovski, segasen parohiski sveStenik e prota Stojan
Gligorov, koj zedno so upravniot odbor na Crkvata i drugite pomosni sekcii
kako sto se Zenskata sekcija KUD "Tanec", nedelnoto skolo Sv. Kliment-Ohrid-s- ki imaat uspesna sorabotka so Republika Makedonija i poSirokata bratska
zaednica na Jugoslovenskite narodi i narodnosti SFR Jugoslavia, Sorabotka

I ovaa godina, kako i minatite Makedonskiot narod so svoite braka i sestri
od site nasi Republiki i Aflonomni pokraini — Jugoslovenski iselenici uce-stvuv- a
na Jugoslovenskiot Festival koj po tradicija se odrzuva red godini vo
Detroit. Od imeto na site nas na Jugoslovenskiot festival mu posakuvame
uspesna rabota so pogolemi uspesi i afirmacija megu Amerikanskoto opStestvo
i drugi te narodi od celiot svet.
