Yugoslav-America- ns dug our coal, made-o- ur steel, and like the great scientists Nikola Tesla and Michael Pupin have also contributed their intellectual genius to make our country richer materially and culturally, and The Yugoslav-Americ- an community in Michigan, centered principally in the metropolitan Detroit area seeks to exemplify the unity of the peoples of Yugoslavia and more importantly set an example for Yugoslav-America- ns in fostering harmony among all of our fellow citizens in this land. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED That the Detroit City Council hereby recognizes and supports Yugoslav-Americ- an Days in Detroit, September 6-- 8, 1985, and asks all Detroiters to be aware and appreciative of the valuable contributions of the Yugoslav community to this city and state. In 1980 the Junior Kolo Group was formed. The group's repertoire now inclu-des dances from all the Republics.of Yugoslavia. Beginning with only tree sets of costumes, the Senior Kolo Group now owns 13 complete sets from the various regions of Yugoslavia. The Junior Kolo Group owns three sets of costumes and will be adding more, as time goes on. "SUMADIJA" has completed two succesful tours of Yugoslavia, and hopes to plan a third tour in the future. "&U-MADIJ-A" performs for all occassions.
